There are many options for adding a second seating or making a single stroller double. The Vista V2 from UPPAbaby is big, beautiful stroller that easily converts from a single stroller to a double by adding the rumble seat (available separately). However, it's expensive and less mobile than other double strollers because the 2nd seat goes to the left of the front seat. Nuna Demi Grow is a similar model, but it lacks storage under the seat when it is used as a double stroller.

Other alternatives include all-terrain twin buggies as well as fixed-wheel joggers which can be used to accommodate two children. They are more expensive, but they are designed for long-distance trips over rough terrain, and come with higher resale prices.

It is also important to think about the size of the pushchair, as this will affect the ease of traverse doors and public transportation. If your doorways are very narrow, you may want to consider a side by side pushchair like the Mountain Buggy Duet. It has a footprint that is similar to a single stroller however can still fit two seats and car seat adaptors.

Tandem buggies are typically larger than side-by-side models, which makes them more difficult to maneuver up and down kerbs. However they can be able to accommodate more combinations of seats/carrycots/car seats and can make an excellent choice for twins and siblings of various ages. They are also more expensive than single-to-double stroller with car seat buggies, but are worth the investment if you intend to keep it for many years and will have a decent amount of resale value if you sell it on when your children are out of it.

This feature allows you to place your child in the most comfortable position for naps or to observe. This is essential when your child is in the back seat and would like to rest while the child in the front prefers to sit and observe the surroundings.

A few brands have a unique seat design which allows the back seat to fully recline into a nearly flat position which is perfect for newborns. The iCandy Orange, for example is a stadium-style seat that can be reclined to multiple positions. It also comes with UPF 50+ canopy and windows that peek out.

It's not necessary to have twins in order to benefit from a bigger double buggy. It has an adjustable handle that makes it easier for parents to push, and a handbrake, which can be useful on hills that are steep. It is suitable for use right from birth, and it can be combined with a wide range of car seats and carrycots.

The iCandy Wave is another option. It folds in duo or mono mode with just one click. The clever frame expands to accommodate the second chair and can be used up to two car seats or carrycots. This makes it a great option for older siblings who want to sit together. It's slightly longer than some other models but still feels light to steer and has soft suspension that can handle kerbs.

There are a variety of 3-wheeler tandems with inline wheels that offer stability and swift steering. Take a look at Phil and Teds inline models, or iCandy Peach and Pear buggies. Most of them can be folded down to the size of a single buggy, which is helpful when you have trouble storing it at home or need to carry it in and out of the car when you travel on public transportation.

It's important to keep in mind that a wide double buggy will feel bulkier and heavier than a compact single buggy So make sure it's what you need before you buy. It is possible that you will need to move the car seat on and off road double Buggy when taking your child to school or nursery.

The best time to start is when you are born.

If you're expecting twins, or you have a child following your first, you're going need to find a pushchair that fits the entire family. Double buggies tend to be slightly heavier, bulkier and cost more than single strollers, but they can also be more maneuverable in narrower entrances or around obstacles like curbs. Many are also compatible with piggyback ride-along boards (either from the manufacturer or as a separate accessory purchase) so you can transport three children at once.

Tandem pushchairs put one child in front of the other. They're a good option for children who are similar in age and are good friends. However, they're not 100% secure: Siblings in side-by-side seats could kick or punch each other, and children who are different heights can argue over who sits higher. A tandem high-low model can solve this issue by elevating the seat towards the rear, which prevents your child's height from being on the bottom and not getting the best view.

The iCandy Wave is a good alternative for parents looking for a convertible double buggy with a carrycot that can fit both infants and an older child. It has an intelligent frame that can be expanded in size when you add a second child seat. It can also fold flat to make it a compact storage. The cushioned seats, straps and buckles are all of the highest quality we have encountered in our testing. The canopies are large in size, UPF 50+ protection, and a peekaboo window. Both seats are reclined independently.

The only downside to the iCandy tandem is that it is a bit costly. However, a quality tandem will last you for a long time and will have a high resale price, so at the end of the day you'll probably recoup a portion of the cost. It also doesn't offer the same variety of seating options as others of our top picks, but the iCandy is a great choice for families that don't want to shell out a lot of money.
